Dutch tradition of drinking beer in gala dinner was modified by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono VIII (1921-1939) into drinking a warming non-alcohol concoction of sappanwood, massoia, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, and ginger, with addition of lime juice.

The late Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX (1940-1988) was fond of this native fruit of Selarong, Yogyakarta.
